It is likely that Adam will be transferred from the HDU to the neurological ward at LGI in the next few days. We are waiting for a suitable room to become available. This will be a good move as we will have more access to the occupational therapists on this ward, it also indicates that his physical condition is continuing to improve. Coughing and secretions are still an issue but not the problem that they were.
We have noticed changes over the past week. The movement of his left arm has increased significantly. He now lifts it in the air, reaches across his body and is constantly knocking out the tubes on the tracheotomy. At times during the day he will respond by holding and letting go of things on request. This is not all the time, we are aware of phases of sleep, tension and relaxation.
The other change is facial expression. He clearly expresses displeasure when things are happening he doesn’t like, periods where he looks really determined a
nd other times when he has really big smile. We thought this was happening a few days ago, but it is now really noticeable and has been commented on by the nurses.
He is still in a coma, but things are changing , which is good.
Thanks to all who have visited and for the messages in his bed side book. We read them all out to him.
We would also like to mention that the staff at LGI have commented on how well looked after he had been whilst in Bangkok Pattaya hospital, so many many thanks to all who were involved in his care whilst in Thailand.
And finally – we have heard that Katie made it to the top of Kilimanjaro – well done Katie! Looking forward to seeing the video.
