Latest update from Andrew

Apologies for the huge gap once again....

  • Hi, latest update. The hospital are doing a lot of tests on Adam at the moment, mainly to determine where the best place is for the continuing rehabilitation. We are not going to know the results from this for maybe another two to three weeks. We will post these to the website as soon as we know them.

The current situation is that he is still in a coma. The cranioplasty appears to have been successful with no infections. He is looking good now. Signs of awareness continue to improve but these are still slight. The occupational therapists are aware of more than we are, so we are waiting for the full report. After physio and OT he is extremely tired and we have been advised to let him rest more rather than encouraging him to respond.

Over the past few days the coughing fits have decreased. The physio and the time sat in the wheelchair is helping in this respect. To correct one misunderstanding, he is not being wheeled about – the wheelchair offers him the best form of support for his body and head in an upright position. It remains in his room at all times.

So, for now, improving physically and in awareness, but still a long way to go. As soon as we have more we will let you all know.

    • Judith Mitchell Dear Andrew and Adel

Really heart warming to have the update and so wonderful to hear the coughing fits have decreased, whilst signs of awareness have increased. He is obviously a great fighter and has breathed in your positivity, love and faith. Although he may still have a long way to go it is amazing but not surprising that he has travelled such a distance already in his recovery, given the amount of love prayers and faith in his resilience that continue to surround him and you both from so many people.

I do hope you are able to take some time also to revitalise your stamina, energy levels too with some TLC times for yourselves. Some one said to me if you don’t also look after and feed yourself you have nothing left to give anyone else when they need it!! However, you both truly are an enigma in your dedication patience and perseverance and my prayers continue to be with you all.

      God bless you all

      Love Judith Mitchell ( Devon)
