Great news from Andrew today 08/06/12

Morning everyone - please see update from Andrew below.

Hi All

It looks like Adam is making progress physically. His breathing is stronger, he is now spending a few hours at a time without any breathing assistance. His temperature is normal. He is still in coma and we are now spending time encouraging him to surface. His mum has told him that he was never good at getting about of bed but this is going too far.

The next stage is to get him breathing on his own and then to slowly close the vent in his throat to make him breathe through his nose and mouth. At that point, providing all other things remain the same, he can be moved out of ICU into the next level of ward.

We went to the British embassy in Bangkok yesterday. They looked after us really well and were extremely helpful in sorting out Ben's passport and this is now being processed. They also gave us guidance on what can be done to ease Adam's transfer home. It was a very positive meeting and extremely re-assuring. Our thanks to all that were involved.

This afternoon we are attending an evnt at Adam's Scool - "Pattaya to Pickles" and will be at the hospital tonight and tomorrow morning when we hope to get a fuller update from the doctor.
