Another push

Well it’s been quite a while since this whole thing started, 24 weeks to be exact, and things have been understandably a bit quiet lately.

Adam’s progress is slow, as we were told it would be, and so there’s often not a lot we can report on, but he is progressing and that’s the important thing.

He is still in a coma though, the next big stage will be when he comes out of it and they can assess more accurately the extent of his brain damage, and begin the long (and costly) process of rehabilitation.

It has been an incredibly tough time for everyone affected by this, and of course Andrew & Adele especially, who have shown what remarkable people they are by staying positive and strong throughout the most ridiculously testing time of their lives.

This group was initially set-up to inform Adam’s many friends across the world of what happened and to help raise some of the huge sums of money needed to rescue Adam. It has gone on to be much more than that, it has been the focus of a huge support network that has helped Andrew and Adele immeasurably, and has given us strength in numbers that has enabled us to overcome what seemed at the time unmovable obstacles.

Some of the things we have achieved simply would not have happened without your help…the lobbying of MP’s and constant requests to the UK Foreign Office had a big impact behind the scenes; securing the small but better than nothing insurance pay-out from a reluctant Thai insurance company; the support network in Pattaya – unbelievable!...and as for Adam’s employers, well that’s a real mixed bag so I’m going to leave that for now. The Regents’ School now has an excellent insurance package for it’s staff apparently.

What has really blown everyone away is the amount of fundraising and direct generosity from you all, without this we really don’t know what would have happened. At the time of writing you have raised approx. £89,000!

Which makes the purpose of this post even harder.

We had always set a goal of trying to make sure Andrew and Adele did not suffer financially from all of this, however we are still a long way short of this target, roughly £40,000 short, and the bills are still coming in and the total costs rising.
The legal side of the story is now progressing in Thailand, and so this is another expense that Andrew and Adele have no choice but to pay, and then there is going to be the on-going costs of Adam's rehabilitation, Adam's lost income & the on-going financial support for his son in Thailand.

So, what can we do? We don’t have the momentum we had at the start and everyone has already done so much.

Well…

we all love Adam and we’ve all been paid a few more times since this started so how about we do what we did when he first needed our help and we simply put our hands in our pockets once again?
Power in numbers, if we all donated a small amount we can reach this target.
