The reunion gig of the decade
In the late 60’s I was part of a rock/sould ban called John’s Followers. It was made up of John Loveday(vocals), John Martin (guitar), John Swain (Drums), Trevor Tillotson (Bass) and myself on keyboards. We worked around the Leeds, Wakefield. Sheffield area and became a popular Northern Band.
In 1968 we set off and worked in Switzerland and Italy, mostly around Milan. Whilst in Italy we recorded a single called “Crystal Mountain” which climbed to position MCCCXXIV in the Italian charts.
After this we split up. Trevor and John Loveday emigrated to New Zealand and that was it until 44 years later. In 2012 John and Trevor, by using social media networks managed to get in touch with the rest of the band who all live around the Leeds area.
In July 2013Trevor and John are returning to the UK and we have arranged to do a re-union gig at New Variety Club in Keighley on AUGUST 3rd. This will be a fantastic night of soul/rock greats from the likes of Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Stevie Winwood and Deep Purple (not the dat dat dah, dat dat di-dah one, another one). Ample opportunity to sing along (song sheets in large type provided). So write it in you diary, enter it in your i-pad or just ask your grand children to remind you. AUGUST 3rd – NEW KEIGHLEY VARIETY CLUB.
IN ADDITION, the band and organisers have kindly offered to use the night as a fund raising event to help Adam. Although I have been at many of the events, I have not been directly involved in the event itself. However, I felt that it was OK this time, as I am to be part of the event, to promote it on this site. It would be great to see as many of you as possible on the night. This is one night I would dearly have wished Adam to be at, but at the moment that cannot be. However we are going to record it so I can bore him with it when he wakes up.
And finally, if any one can help with advice, promotional tips, materials etc. I would really appreciate it. — with John Loveday.I’ve just been clearing out my bedroom (moving house) and I came across my old High School leaving book. In it, there’s a note from you Mr Pickles. Part of the message reads, “You have a bright academic career in front of you…” And you then tell me to believe in myself and aim for whatever I want to do. Reading it now made me smile. I know it is years ago now, and I’m sure you won’t remember the kiddies from the Cathedral School, but you certainly left an impression on some of us.
So, I have a challenge for you, because I remember that you could never stand being beaten. I am officially a year away from submitting my PhD thesis. (With any luck your prediction will come true!!) Your challenge is to wake up before I submit and certainly before I become Dr Brumby. Do we have a deal??
You believed in me; now it is my turn to believe in you.
…
(I’d be very grateful if one of you lovely people told him this if you think it’s appropriate. In any case, keep up the good work and keep thinking positive. I think that what you all are doing is incredible. My thoughts are with you all.)How are you Adam sending you some positive thoughts today a bit later than 2 as its 8 here on a sunday but Santo my dog woke me as if to say "aye up lad theres some positive thoughts to be done" yes strange the dog has a yorkshire accent not that he talks being strange, Anyhows I am cooking curry today and remembered when you cooked a curry when you were in Plaza del sol with Carla Ferraz and you,re parents were over great curry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0oBHEvYAJnY Just returned from another visit to the hospital, Adam was looking content, we got smiles when we arrived and thumb movements etc to our questions so I feel pretty sure he was hearing us and responding accordingly. We are hoping that the therapists will begin work to reduce his dependancy on the tracheostomy this week, providing that the imminent chest xray is clear.
We had a discussion with the doctor and he reported that the ct scan did not really show anything new, he commented that there had been significant brain shrinkage due to the damage, this is not particularly good news, however every brain is different and responds in a different way; we can only hope and pray that other parts of his brain learn to adapt and take on the roles of the damaged areas.
Please can we all spend 10 to 15 minutes on Sunday again at 2.00pm sending positive vibes, love and healing to Adam. Thanks to Dara in Mexico who repeated the exercise last Sunday as well. If you want to do it every Sunday that's fine, the more love and healing he gets the better. Thank you to Jasmina and Lucas for visiting at the weekend and also to Carla and Begonia for your messages which we played to Adam and got lots of smiles.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support. Andrew and I feel surrounded by your love and that helps us deal with all the ups and downs. The doctors and therapists do their tests and give us their findings but what they don't know is how strong a person Adam really is and how much he is loved so we just hang on to that and keep on hoping for the best.Hi Adam wasn,t sure when we are planning the next positive thoughts sunday so just do it everyweek . I do it in the best yorkshire accent I can muster as well and Santo my dog is the medium . all the neighbors must think I,m mad but sure they sprinkle chilli on their lemon flavored ice pops ...so whos the mad ones . love to you all
Hi Everyone,
Well your prayers and positive thinking certainly had an impact. We had an amazing day with Adam on Sunday. He looked so content and smiled all the way through the fifteen minutes. We then took Adam out into the sunshine and we got lots of facial expressions, hand squeezing and smiles, then came the breakthrough, Andrew was talking to Adam and he opened his left eye, the one that was previously injured. It only happened for a minute or so then the wind blew and he closed it again but this has never happened before. We played messages and music to Adam and he turned his head towards the sound each time. Darra in Mexico and Walshy in Singapore, you both got lots of smiles and head movement….keep the messages coming please. Monday the force was still strong and again Adam was responding, Tuesday he slept all day but Wednesday he opened his right eye for about 5 to 10 minutes and again responded to our voices.
Well done everyone, just wanted to let you know that Andrew and I felt really good on Sunday too, the best we’ve felt for a long time so we were also receiving the energy. The nurses on the ward were all in happy moods and one was definitely flirting with Andrew, telling him he looked like Adam’s brother and was too young to be his Dad Mmmm…I’ll have to keep my eye on her. Andrew said he felt 90 years younger.
Please can we keep the energy flowing as we are absolutely sure it had an impact. Maybe we can do this group session every fortnight, Sundays at 2pm.
Love and thanks to you all
Adele and Andrew.Hey Ad check this out mate. This is payback for you and Stephen Tomlinson making me listen to this in his car for three weeks.
