Facebook updates - 4 (Jan '13 pt 2)
Just got home from visiting Adam with Peter Gibney. He was sleeping but very relaxed, not in any way agitated like he was when we visited hi some time ago in Leeds. The nurse in with him seemed like a very caring chap and we got a warm welcome from all the staff there, he is clearly in good hands which is great to see. We definitely got a smile as we were leaving, maybe coincidence as he was dreaming, but nice to see. xxx
One of Ad's ultimate favourite books. He only read it for the first time a couple of years ago and then would shut up about it until some of us had read it. Perhaps you could play him an episode a week?
So Adam is moving house today! Best get the wine in for his housewarming! Donate the price of a bottle.....

Adam has settled in well at Putney. He was a bit agitated when he arrived yesterday, but today was a lot better. We have met all the people that will be looking after him and we are relaxed and confident that he is in the right place.
They will be doing a lot of assessment work with him over the next few weeks and will have a wheelchair for him by Tuesday.
Visiting for friends is OK from Wed , visiting times are quite relaxed, 12 noon to 8:00 pm but they stress that they will be doing a lot of work so be prepared for some slight delays at times.
It would be nice if we could co-ordinate this in some way and space it out so that everyone does not turn up on the same day.
We have an on-line calendar that could be used. Message me for details.
At 7:00 am Thursday (24th Jan) morning an ambulance will be taking Adam to the RHN in Putney. We will be setting off at around the same time to be with him when he arrive. We will spend two or three days there with him to make sure he has a familiar voice talking to him to help make sure he is comfortable.
Will post more when we are there and he is settled in
Hi. Do you have a just giving page to make donations? Thank you!
"Dear Adam, recover soon!"
Hey Ad, Bradford are in the League Cup Final (and it will probably be against Swansea). Yes the world is totally out of kilter since you decided to have a break. Oh and yeah England didnt win the Euros. Some things never change mate.
Having read Andrew's recent post regarding fundraising to date, I have had a thought... Adam is hopefully moving to Putney next week and if we were to throw him a house warming party and each of us 6000 plus group members bought a bottle of wine to the party, we, collectively would spend much more than the excess on Adams fees to date. So instead of buying a decent bottle of wine for Adams 'housewarming', lets each donate £5 this week and not only cover the excess of his fees thus far, but leave a little extra in the pot for Andrew and Adele's travel to Putney. Get your cash cards ready pickle lovers... It's time for another little push... X
360 Pounds transferred to the fundraising account today. Money raised in sponsorship for my marathon in December. Many thanks to all Regents staff who contributed. Keep fighting the good fight everyone.
Fund raising update:
(Just a quick reminder that The Thai bank account is closed for the moment)
Total costs to date £121,929.
Fund rasing and donations £90,972 - Fantastic. Thank you so much to everyone.
Lots of love to you all
Andrew and Adele
The good news Neil is referring to. Firstly, apologies for the delay in posting this. When there is a change or some sign of progress we always wait to see if is repeated before letting people know. As I have mentioned before it is too easy to see a reflex action as being more signifcant than it is.
We have put the guitar in Adam's hands a few times and got some good responses. On Sunday we gave it to him again and he started plucking the strings with his left hand, one at a time and then by running his finger over all the strings. We asked him to find the bottom E string, which he did and then the top E, which he did, smiling all the while. More significant to us, when we put his right hand on the guitar we noticed small movements and twtiches in his thumb and fingers.
A few of the nurses came in to watch and there there were tears all round. To us a big step.
Now the caveat (sorry): He is still in a coma, his eyes are still closed, but this is another sign to us that some conciousness is returning.
